3D printing PEZ dispenser now offers candy in the shape of your face

by Gareth Mankoo

It’s quite delightful to learn about the arrival of PEZ dispensers, shaped like your very own face. This means that rather than settling for the famous preset shapes you can have your very own likeness, ready to be eaten. Hot Pop Factory co-founders and designers Matt Compeau and Bi-Ying Miao used an Xbox Kinect motion-sensor to scan a person’s head and then print out a plastic PEZ replica with a 3D printer. This happened to satisfy a client of theirs who needed a custom holiday gift for its 32 employees.

The idea seems failry simple and the Kinect greatly reduces the pains one may need to undergo to enable a scanning process. What next now?
