Apple launches ‘Why iPhone’ page as a reply to slam Galaxy S4 and Android
Samsung successfully introduced Galaxy S4 last Thursday and it’s safe to say that it lived up to the expectations created by a myriad of marketing tactics by the South Korean Giant. The success of the marketing strategy can simply be gauged by the reaction of its competitors, just before the launch event, Apple jumped-in to publically criticize the device even before the specs of S4 were officially announced. Apple and its marketing chief Phil Schiller spoke with mainstream news publications to slam Android and iPhone competitors. Calling S4’s OS a year old (S4 runs on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 which is the latest from Android), Phil Schiller publically made a gaffe and never recovered.

Post the launch of Galaxy S4, Apple has opened up an entire new website to tout why people love iPhone for so many years and to punch some negative claims against Android and Samsung devices. Apple has also begun emailing a version of this webpage to its own customers. Apple touts its high customer satisfaction with the iPhone via its numerous J.D. Power and Associates awards.

On its website it brags on the iPhone’s superior design quality and its Retina display, which Apple still considers to be superior to all other competitors;

“The Retina display on iPhone ushered in the era of super-high-resolution displays. Its pixel density is so high; your eye can’t distinguish individual pixels. The images and words are amazingly vivid and crisp. Everything just looks so real. In fact, once you see a Retina display, you’re never satisfied with anything less. Yet it remains a feature found only on iPhone and other Apple products.”

The design factor of iPhone 5 is definitely much better than other smartphones but companies like HTC are fast catching up, and as far as the Retina display is concerned, both HTC One and Samsung S4 has eye-popping resolution. They are not only as good as the Retina display but might be even better.

Apple even questioned the camera quality of other smartphone and said the 8MP camera of iPhone 5 is much better than the higher resolution cameras on other devices. It’s a well known fact that Nokia smartphone cameras are the best in image quality and HTC ultra-pixel technology is equally promising and it’s too early to gauge the quality of S4’s camera quality.

Apple talks about Siri and App store to be the best, its iTunes and limitless ways of user entertainment. No doubt the package is still in some ways unbeatable but its rigid structure sometimes annoys no end. Apple and its secrecy on its specs don’t impress everyone. Siri on the other hand is good, but definitely not the best, Google Voice Recognition is much faster and is integrated to the best search engine in the world.

All in all, Apple has made some really tall claims which don’t impress; only die-hard Apple fans might buy into it. Emailing it to its customers only proves the insecurity over losing its Brand Recognition. Apple for the first time has gone defensive in its tactics and is looking scared. In the coming months, we’ll get a better picture, as of now, it’s a complete chaos out there.
