• CES: Corning demonstrates Gorilla Glass 3 to many ‘awws’ and ‘woahs’

  • The next edition of the almighty glass that has so well preserved cellphone screens from shattering to splinters is here. Corning’s booth was the central focus of many cellphone enthusiasts who wanted to catch a glimpse of the third edition of the iconic Gorilla Glass. Planned to touch smartphones and tablets soon, this glass arrives better than the previous version with chemical and atomic composition enhanced. This makes the glass even more scratch and dent resistant. The company went on to demonstrate the glass by dropping a 130-gram ball onto in from varying heights. An employee at the booth even went on to place over a 100 pound pressure on the glass without it cracking or shattering.

Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 will arrive on a lucky few gadgets (that it is sworn to protect) in the second half of this year. I wish I was there, trying to shatter a screen to no avail and still be satisfied.
