We were all raving about how cool Domino’s Pizza were with their amazing idea to fly pizzas to those who have place orders, quicker than before. They used a drone to enable the same. Now, however, we see another, more critical use served by drones in the Defikopter. It serves by bringing in an automatic external defibrillator (AED) to the person quickest, using airways, rather than an ambulance. Thus, we see the entire problem of traffic-related medical delays diminishing and increasing the possibility of saving lives. The Defikopter has been devised by German non-profit organization Definetz. It can be programmed to carry the AED to any location based on its GPS coordinates. The company are simplifying the operation with a smartphone app that would be shared with patients suffering from cardiac problems, thus helping them simply ask for instant life-saving help in emergencies without fumbling for telephone numbers.
The drone can fly at speeds up to 43 mph thus engaging any qualified personnel, nearer to the location, to attend to the patient. Definetz estimates a cost of $26,000 in the creation of each drone. What’s more is that the system still requires a remote operator. We hope that these cover more skies world over, to save lives and precious moments.
