Designer uses Elvis Presley’s genes to create pop-star-like rat clone
Ever wished your pet behaved less like an animal and more like your favorite pop icon? Well, our kitty sure doesn’t resemble a celebrity and all she ever does is purr, sleep and cough up the occasional fur ball. In the future however, having pets with celebrity traits could very well turn into a trend, with designer Koby Barhad’s recent All That I Am project paving the way. Using a $22 strand of hair belonging to the late King of Pop Elvis Presley sourced from eBay, Barhad managed to produce transgenic mice clones with the help of a lab. The said rat, is claimed to sport personality traits of Presley himself (though we wouldn’t expect the poor little creature to begin singing and strumming a guitar). Also, Koby designed cages for his experimental rat that each replicates a phase in Presley’s life, and we aren’t really sure just how ethical an experiment like this really is.
