Disney steps into the world of Augmented Reality toys
The giant consoles of this day and age are sufficient to hone and nurture our children as geniuses in their own right. Now Disney brings the technological genius of augmented reality to their new toy project. Reports state that Disney has tied up with a company by the name of Jaxx, to create toys that can be recognized by smart device apps and then trigger animations based on Disney’s movies or other shows. Reuters viewed an example in which pointing an iPad camera at a set of Little Mermaid-branded bongo drums caused the Sebastian (the crab) to come on-screen and perform a song by “playing” them.

This was attempted by Activision in their game, Skylanders, which managed some level of interactivity that seems missing in the Disney attempt. There are more projects expected in this space from Disney, especially the much sought after Disney Infinity.
