• DSVision delivers books, videos and manga on the DS

  • dsvision2 thumb 450x337The Nintendo DS has evolved from a gaming machine to a full fledged browser, a TV and now a media device. Dai Nippon Printing Japan has partnered with AM3 to start DSVision which allow users to watch movies, read books and even get Manga on the DS. The distribution platform will be PC based as the DSVision kit will include a Micro SD catridge for the DS and a USB reader for the PC. It will be very simple purchase the content from the website, download on the PC, transfer to the Micro SD card and pop the cartridge in the DS to enjoy it. Unfortunately the downloads work with the DSVision software so you cant download the content directly on the DS using Wi-Fi. A 2GB Micro SD card can hold 16 movies or 25 comics or 4000 books.

DSVision goes live in Japan on by March 2008 with 300 titles which will be further expanded to 10,000 titles by 2010. The kit will sell for 3980 Yen ($ 37) which will include a 512MB Micro SD card, cartridge attachment and a USB reader / writer. The titles will be selling for around 1000 Yen each ($ 10).
