The basic idea behind wireless charging is to get freedom from wires which limit the mobility of devices. Battery technology isn’t quite moving ahead and wireless charging is the only factor that’ll ultimately transform the future of ubiquitous computing. But, wireless chargers in its current form are no better than normal chargers. DuPont has partnered with Power Matters Alliance (PMA) to make unique kitchen-tops and home furnishing with embedded wireless chargers for smartphones and tablets.
DuPont’s Corian Solid Surfaces which are used in home and public furnishing will be embedded with wireless charging units which will make Kitchen-tops, tables and other furniture items charging points. This will take wireless technology to a whole new level and will help make home a smarter and cable-free place. Imagine, every time your device runs out of juice, you won’t have to run for your charger but simply place the phone on coffee table and voila!
