Ear cleaning the Japanese way
The Japs have a high tech alternative to even the simplest of things like ear cleaning. There are tiny salons popping up in Tokyo which specialize in ear cleaning. The professional ear cleaner uses an ear pick with a tiny camera and a light. In front of you is a large flat screen TV which shows you the live broadcast from the tiny camera. So you get to see the wax removed from your ear in real time. A quick 5 minute clean up service costs 500 Yen ($ 4.5) whereas a full 20 minute deluxe service costs 2000 Yen ($ 18). It is surprising that 70 % of customers are male.
As my masked therapist scraped away the detritus I got to watch the whole experience in all its wide-screen horror
The service is a huge hit in Japan and might make it to the West soon.
