FACE robot creepily replicates human emotions
There was a time when robots were considered expressionless. Even the “futuristic” R2D2 from the Star Wars franchise couldn’t manage more than just a few irrational beeps. Researchers at the University of Paris however decided to give our wired friends a little more than blank stares and came up with the FACE robot, one capable of a bunch of realistic facial expressions! Using 32 motors under its skin that work as the muscles in our faces, the FACE robot frowns, smiles and makes disgusted, amazed and shocked expressions too. However, the creepy video did leave us slightly disturbed given the fact that the FACE robot is reminiscent of a character right out of a horror movie.
