Hitachi W53H hits KDDI

by Dhiram Shah

Japanese mobile carrier KDDI has added the Hitachi W53H to its portfolio. The CDMA clamshell sports a 2.8 inch WQVGA display supporting a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. Like the Bravia phone we had covered earlier the phone uses technology like the ‘Picture Mobile engine’ from Hitachi’s Woo range of LCD TV’s for delivering crisp images. It has a dual axial hinge allowing the display to be twisted at 360 degrees. The W53H has an onboard ‘One Seg” digital TV tuner along with support for EPG which makes it a mobile Tivo. Other features include GPS, Media player, SD card slot (upto 2GB) and Infrared. The only thing non Japanese about the phone is the mediocre 2 Megapixel camera.

The Hitachi W53H measures 51×107×14.2 and weighs 131 grams. It will go on sale in Japan from December for 10,000 Yen ($ 85) with a plan of course.
