• MyDeskFriend responds with moods, connects to Facebook

If you ever dreamt of owning a penguin but was thwarted since you don’t have a frigid zone-like environment in your office then here’s your chance to get even with the thwarters. MyDeskFriend is a penguin that moves about your desk and connects to Facebook, thus giving you alerts about messages that come in and friends who try to contacts you. It all looks cute and interesting until you encounter the most intriguing feature of it. It has five mood swings of its own (that’s more than my girlfriend) which change depending on how you treat it. It reacts to voice, poking, cherishing, shaking, etc. I wonder what ‘cherishing’ means in this context. Overall, it’s a pretty smart toy, isn’t it? Go buy one now and leave the freezer for the beer.

MyDeskFriend conveys its moods with the help of its colorful eyes. It can memorize 10 – 15 short voice commands. It is expected in September this year for $99.
