New ‘Smart Highway’ concept reminiscent of Tron

If there is one thing to make driving in the night more pleasurable, it would be a futuristic road to maneuver on. Just what the artists from Dutch design firms, Studio Roosegaarde and Hejimans Infrastructure are spinning together. The Smart Highway roads they have designed will move some Tron fans to tears with glow-in-the-dark lanes and weather-sensing paint. What’s more is they are also plotting roads that light up only as a car passes, thus getting rid of the wastage of lights on barren roadways.


The concept of Smart Highway won an award for its ingenuity and likelihood of endless contributions to mankind, especially evasion of accidents and the like. And then, you seem to live in a Disney movie.
