Nikon Coolpix S5

Nikon today announced a stylish and edgy addition to the Nikon Coolpix S, Series of digital cameras. The new COOLPIX S5 combines high-quality imaging performance with impressive new Pictmotion photo sharing technology to make the S5 the must-have compact digital camera. The new Rotary multi selector incorporated into the camera back enables high-speed image browsing with circular scrolling action at up to 10 frames per second, while a range of buttons built into the Rotary multi selector make for more intuitive operation. The Coolpix S5 boasts 6.0 effective megapixels and a 3x Zoom- Nikkor ED Glass lens. Unique to Coolpix digital cameras is Nikon’s Exclusive Feature System, which gives users the power to automatically improve recorded images in-camera. This combination of in-camera features provides a quick, easy and seamless answer to dark pictures, blurry or out-of-focus shots and red eyes.

The Coolpix S5 features a large 2.5-inch 230,000-dot TFT LCD. Such generous size does away with the need for a viewfinder and makes for easier composition. The LCD offers an impressive 170° viewing angle that makes it easy for everyone to enjoy the playback of still images, movies anywhere, at any time. Another new feature for the Coolpix S5 includes a calendar function that automatically sorts images according to the date that they were taken. Rechargeable EN-EL8 Li-Ion Battery (supplied) can shoot approx.210 shots on a single charge. Voice recording is available for duration of up to 5 hours or until memory capacity is reached. The Coolpix S5 is created with a unique wave-surface design that is both esthetically appealing and very comfortable in the hand and is available in an attractive range of colors (availability may vary by country or region), with each exterior combining a range of attractive textures comprising a high-grade glossy main aluminum body with elements of protective acrylic, resilient stainless steel and silicone paneling. The camera uses SD card for recording, has 21MB internal memory and weighs 135g. The Coolpix S5 will be available in March 2006 with MSRP of $349.95
