The on-going Frankfurt Motor Show might be all about super-sexy machines with dazzling paint job on show but in the midst of all this dizzying craziness, there are a few corners showcasing not-so-glamorous but equally cool stuff! One of them is a German company named S-Walker which launched its new product ‘S-Walker Board’. An odd looking thing, it is cross between a skateboard, Segway and a balancing board. The two-wheeled board is powered by two small electric motors.
The wheels are at the center of the board and it’s fitted with a gyroscope. Like a balancing board, the rider will have to place his feet on the grips at the opposite ends and like the Segway, leaning forward or backward translates the movement of the board. It can be steered by pivoting the bodyweight.
The S Walker board is fitted with two 250 W motors and is powered by a rechargeable lead acid battery. It can carry a rider weighing up to 176 lb (80 kg) for up to 12.4 miles (20 Km), depending on terrain and usage. Recharging takes around one hour. It can reach a maximum of 6.2 mph or (10 km/h). The company is displaying the product at the IAA hoping to hope in distributers to launch the product worldwide. They are aiming to price the product at €699 (US$930).
