Segway launches two new PT models to target adventure-seeking customers
There is no doubt that the self-balancing Segway EVs are really cool and everybody loves them. It became an instant hit when it was first introduced a decade back. Since then not only the novelty has worn off, but its steep pricing and several players in the market offering cheaper options has eaten into the popularity of Segway. But the New Hampshire based company has introduced two new models and a whole new game plan to capture the market and regain its lost spot. The two new models which are named the ‘Segway i2 SE’ and the more adventure-focused ‘Segway x2 SE’ and both are Personal Transports (PT) which feature quick-release handlebar like that you’d find on a mountain bike’s front wheel, front and rear lights, and a wider, lower profile base.
The Segway i2 SE is meant for more indoor use but can easily tackle outdoor conditions but the x2 SE model is tuned to navigate off-road terrain including grass, gravel and sand. Both the models have improved design in addition to enhancements in comfort, portability and usability, but Segway hasn’t made any changes to the pricing. Along with the two new models, the company has also unveiled an accessory shop called SegSolutions. It offers personalization kits for Segway PTs with maky options such as camouflage, cargo cases and a gun scabbard to create the ‘Silent Hunter’ upgrade kit and many more. It will be interesting to see if this new move will help Segway to improve their sales.
