Self-portraits made easier using camera with gesture recognition
Ages ago, taking a self-portrait picture was near impossible, in a world of film-cameras. Now, with technology spreading to the top and companies releasing cameras with multiple options to aid self portraits like timers, face and smile recognition and dual screens, taking a picture of yourself is a piece of cake! Researchers at the University of Tsukuba’s Department of Computer Science in Japan are busy trying to make it even easier, using a system that incorporates hand gestures to take pictures. Developed by Shaowei Chu and Jiro Tanaka, the system hooks on to cameras and uses a computer vision algorithm to recognize hand gestures and take suitable pictures.

With this, never again will you ever need to stare stupidly into the camera, waiting for the timer to finish ticking!
