There’s some good news for handheld gamers from the Sony camp, an all new PS Vita called the PS Vita 2000 has been announced. What’s good about this is that the Vita 2000 wont just be lighter in your hand it’ll be lighter on your wallet too. This iteration of Sony’s popular hand held gaming console is 15mm in depth which is 20% thinner than its predecessor and now weighs 15% lighter as well (219g). Sony is now using an LCD panel for the 5 inch display (resolution retained at 960 x 544) in plave of the OLED screen and has incorporated 1GB of onboard storage. Sony is also working on 64GB memory cards for the new device. Unfortunately the new model will be devoid of 3G support so you’ll have to make do with just Wi-Fi.
The PS Vita 2000 is scheduled to hit store shelves in Japan on October 10 and will be priced at just $200 (19,929 YEN) which is much better than the older edition that was priced at $312. The device will be launched in a slew of colors that include – lime green with white, light blue and white, pink and black and a khaki and black combo that’s in addition to the standard full white and black editions. Other specs remain unchanged.
