In the past few weeks, HTC One Max was frequently leaked including its purported features and specifications along with some blurry images. Just as in the case with other smartphones that were leaked this year, all the information was more or less accurate. HTC has finally made the One Max official and save some minor changes, it’s a HTC One M7 repackaged with a bigger 5.9 inch display. Most of the hardware including the front and rear cameras, chipset and processor has been lifted off from the M7. The HTC One Max measures 164.5 x 82.5 x 10.29mm and weighs in at 217g. Entering the phablet territory, it’s bigger and heavier than Samsung Galaxy Note III which is its direct competition.

Do people really buy these uber-luxury expensive phones? I wonder if they do so and then invest in an equally expansive security setup to protect them. Well, for once, we have a phone that has won its accolades and built a mighty reputation. The HTC One rolls in, dressed all in gold and with a price tag that could well get you a lot more, across the globe. We have seen Samsung and Apple roll out the gold versions of the flagship offerings but with Mr. Tony Stark in tow, pimping up and blinging up devices would never really be a problem for HTC. In fact, this one should have come in true Iron Man colors to be the real deal. Instead, the Taiwanese manufacturer produced five 18-carat gold One smartphones to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the MOBO Awards, which is a British awards ceremony celebrating “music of black origin.”

He may be Sherlock Holmes or Iron Man in some other realm but for the geek world Robert Downey Jr. is showing himself to be a completely new character, or should we say entity. HTC needed someone to save them some grace in the face of steep competition so who better than RDJ to do the job. That said, the company released a teaser of their new campaign featuring the superstar. In this clip he steps into a boardroom and with his millionaire-who-doesn’t-break-a-sweat redefines the HTC’s initials. Well, is that what we can expect from RDJ when it comes to all things HTC? Redefining the brand? Precisely so! That’s why they’ve showered him with all the greens, no?

We know we’re not looking only at Sherlock Holmes but also the voracious Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, when we set eyes on Robert Downey Jr. The actor is out to settle the next big score, alongside his buddies from the Marvel series, Avengers. He signed up for Avengers 2 and 3, thus giving fans a reason to cheer. The cheer may ring for a while now, that the movie is expected to begin production only next year and eventually release by May 2015! That’s a long time coming. RDJ isn’t only fueling the geek gut in superhero movies, he is also slated to be the face for HTC and its products for the next two years. This development could well mean that we see a lot of the man on our geek blogosphere before the grand 2015 release.

After a few leaks that surfaced last week HTC has finally made Butterfly S official. Remember Russel Holly? No? Well, it’s fine. He’s this amazing dude from Geek.com was responsible for the much appreciated and applauded Samsung Galaxy S IV Google Edition leak, a day before it was announced at Google I/O. Well, he’s got that reputation at stake and so we can be sure that he would not be bluffing when he mentioned about the HTC One Google Edition rolling out. Now it so came to pass during the Samsung Galaxy S IV Google Edition that a representative from HTC tweeted that we could either settle for former or wait. That was a clear indicator that HTC were brewing something close to our lustful tastes. HTC’s developer arm has put its brains to work with the modders from that Android sphere to create magic such as a mechanism to flash custom software without much trouble. What’s your take on this? Will it lead more Android developers and modders to head to the HTC camp or will it look like just another effort?
