If you weren’t happy with the ongoing Lego themes and if George Lucas did succeed in getting you addicted to out-worldly adventures then the Lego Star Wars 10225 R2D2 set is something you should totally own! R2-D2 is undoubtedly everyone’s favorite droid from the Star Wars franchise and lovingly makes up for all the cold-hearted bad-boy fanboy mileage that Darth Vader commands. There is something good and pleasant to take away and R2-D2 is something that could spread the message of not being evil or depending on an all-controlling force, to kids. This one’s high on detail as well, with a retractable third leg, a universal computer interface arm in the front panels that opens up and a circular saw, a rotating head and 2 fold-out front spacecraft linkage control arms. Pretty cool, huh?

In other good news, Christmas 2015 is going to be quite epic. Reports are rolling out that Star Wars Episode VII is going to be hitting the big screen around the 18th of December 2015. Disney is going to make it a happy Christmas that year for fans of the epic Sci-Fi saga but it’s a also a bit of a bummer to know that the initial launch date was at least five months earlier in May. It seems Disney is giving Lucasfilms more time to work on the movie so that it would be just as good as the originals (not the prequels). This will be a tale of life after the Jedi have returned and there’s a strong possibility that it will feature some of the older cast members reprising their roles. Headcount – who’d like to see Harrison Ford back as Han Solo?!

Thomas Kinkade was known for painting borderline eery scenes of gardens, streams, cottages and villages. Roland Deschane from Devian art has taken some of his classics and brilliantly incorporated Star Wars art into them. Here are three of our favorites from his collection.

If soccer could be a religion then why not Star Wars? It’s got quite a large base of ardent followers who cannot get over the awesomeness of inter-galactic miracles coming their way. So, why not settle for some prayer-gear like, say, the Star Wars Prayer Candles. You also have denominations and demigods to choose from. There’s the (Christian-wise blashphemous) Holy Church of Leia and the Sanctity of the Sith Lords to choose from. It’s up to you to choose anyway as investing in the candles will land you three pieces that pay tribute to Darth Vader, a Stormtrooper and Princess Leia. This reminds of the Game of Thrones Seven Gods, namely The Stranger, the Warrior and the Mother. Oh boy, too much religion in geekdom these days, I tell you.

There are collectors and then there’s this guy. Meet Steve Sansweet, a journalist and author and President of Rancho Obi-Wan, a non-profit museum in Pentaluma, Nothern Carolina. He does run a novel endeavor but what’s really got him in everyone’s newsfeeds is his mammoth collection of Star Wars memorabilia. Steve has a collection of about 300,000 unique Star Wars memorabilia. The collection contains everything from outfits to props from the films, to action figures in all sizes and avatars as well as pinball machines and video games themed around the famed franchise. From all this collection, only about 90,546 items have been accurately audited and cataloged. Whatever said and done, he has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the holder of maximum Star Wars collectibles and why not? Steve took his collections more seriously after 1996 when he swore allegiance to the Force and became Director of Specialty Marketing at Lucasfilm Ltd.

J.J. Abrams does love leaving some subtle easter eggs in the Star Trek reboots, we saw R2D2 make an appearance in the 2009 Star Trek. And now the shiny bot has been spotted in Star Trek Into Darkness as well. At precisely one hour seventeen minutes into the movie when the Vengeance fires on USS Enterprise in warp we can see R2D2 getting sucked out of the ship along with some crew members. But then again the Force is strong with that one and R2D2 will live long and prosper.
