Toshiba has announced two new Santa Rosa lappies the Qosmio G40 and F40 which will be available in Japan. The Qosmio G40 is a multimedia powerhouse and offers decent specs, including a 17 inch WUXGA (1,920×1,200) display, your choice of T7300 or T7100 Core 2 Duo processors, upto 4GB of memory, Intel PM965 platform, Dual 160GB hard drives, HD-DVD drive, HDMI output, 2 Megapixel camera, 4 in1 card reader and a fingerprint reader. Along with features the G40 scores high on looks also, enclosed in a stylish black case it has cool blue LED’s around the switches. Optional accessories include external Digital TV tuner and remote control. The unit measures 440×303×38.1~45.3mm and weighs 5 kg.
The Qosmio F40 packs in a 15.4 inch (WSXGA,1,280×800) display, Core 2 Duo T7100 processor, upto 4GB memory, 160GB hard drive, nVidia GeForce 8400M GS (128MB) graphics, Dual speakers with woofer, DVD writer, 4 in 1 card reader and HDMI output. The Toshiba Qosmio G40 / F40 go on sale later this month in Japan for 430,000 Yen ($ 3500) and 250,000 Yen ($ 2100).
