• Valve unveils Steam digital game distribution platform for smartphones

  • Game developer Valve’s digital game distribution platform Steam is now available for use on smartphones, with the company unveiling its first official Steam application for the iPhone, iPod Touch or Android phones. The smartphone Steam version doesn’t enable users to play games on their phones, and we weren’t expecting it to. What it does do however, is allows users to connect with the rest of the Steam community, access the store, and in short, keep in touch with Valve’s world of gaming. Featuring about 1504 games and 40 million active user accounts, Steam today has a 70% share of the digital distribution market for video games and this new development is bound to have gamers peep into their smartphones more than often.
