Windows Home Server system, or WHS for short is something that Microsoft has been working on for sometime and the details regarding the system were leaked by Velocity Micro. The network media hub based on WHS is both noise-less and powerful. The system features Intel chipset and DDR2 memory plus a Conroe-based processor. A high-performance Intel chipset with PCI Express-based Gigabit Ethernet and SATA 3.0Gbps are inside the WHS system. The WHS system will have build-to-order options with varying storage capacities, up to several terabytes of storage. The system will also have an eSATA port for external storage expansion.

Velocity Micro plans to release versions of the cases in either a black and red combo or silver, to coincide with the Windows Home Server shipping; which will probably be in September or October. An external storage enclosure that matches the WHS system design will be out by early 2008.
