• Volvo cars will drive themselves in heavy traffic in the future

  • Tired of holding on to your car’s steering wheel and working your legs across those pedals? Well, Volvo’s next generation cars could give you some respite. The Swedish automaker is currently developing next-generation cars that will use autonomous vehicle technology. These cars will be able to drive themselves at low speeds, allowing you to lay back and let your car take the wheel, literally.

Called the Traffic Jam Assistance, this system drives the car autonomously up to 30mph, and works extremely well in the event of heavy traffic. Using a bunch of cameras that detect the road lines and the car ahead, the system steers, accelerates and breaks automatically, making maneuvering your car through gridlocked streets less stressful!
