• Apple introduces iOS7 with fresh new looks, Siri, iTunes Radio and more

Finally after almost 6 long years the iOS has been given a thorough redesign. Amid speculations of a flatter, simpler or even black and white interface Apple has launched its latest flagship mobile OS. Gone are the old skeuomorphic 3D design attributes which anyone will instantly relate with the legendary Steve Jobs and welcome Sir Jony Ive’s bold and radical new design. Absolutely nothing has been spared and the new iOS 7 has received a complete visual overhaul. It looks crisp, it looks bright and nothing like what the speculation tipped us it would be. The clamours of discontent for the old design have been silenced with a masterpiece.

  • Walmart turns bus stops into QR code enabled virtual stores

The shopping centers of the world are cashing in on any and all free spaces available to bring their wares to consumers. While some of the males of our species might deny the thrill of shopping does not entice, it’s hard to resist it when it’s covered in some tech form. Take Walmart for example, in an endeavor to reach out to all loyal consumers as well as cater to potential newbies, they’ve started pasting QR codes across bus shelters around Toronto, Canada. The QR codes, when accessed from a mobile device, direct you to their mobile site which allows you to make purchases immediately. Articles like diapers, Tide detergent, Crest toothpaste and more can be bought via your phone, tablet etc. and delivered to your home when you get there.

It was going to be an epic battle this coming gaming season when Sony and Microsoft launch their new console. But it doesn’t seem like that anymore. With news free flowing over web channels on specifications, and other details about the two upcoming devices, it seems quite clear that Sony has wrapped this baby up neat and tidy. Final score of the console wars – Xbox 1 – Playstation 4

At $400 the PS4 is a cool $100 cheaper than the Xbox One, the price difference is marginal compared to the fact that unlike on the Xbox One you can share and sell used games. Needless to say it makes perfect sense, I can trade, share and sell the games that I have paid $50 for.

Sushi chain serves your meals via air delivery using iPad controlled drones

The latest addition to a Susi chain of restaurants, Yo! Sushi, at their Soho eatery in London, is flying fish, not of the edible variety. The company has employed a couple of rather unorthodox ‘food service engineers’ to deliver meals quickly and efficiently while providing some form of entertainment to their customers. Yo! Sushi now delivers your food toute suite via qudracopter servers called iTrays (like that name was a surprise). Have your food literally flown in to your table even if you’re seated 50 yards away from the kitchen. iTrays, with their lightweight carbon fibre bodies and four rotors are controlled via an iPad and can travel up to 25 MPh to get you your meals on the double. Food is placed on the service try and the four rotors lift off and fly in to your table.

Never loose your luggage again with Airbus’ Bag2Go smartluggage

As a frequent traveller via airplane, or otherwise for that matter, one of my biggest worries is having the airline loose my baggage. The last thing you need is to be trapped in a foreign country without clean underwear. But that should no longer be an issue as a new system called Bag2Go, with iPhone app (Find My Bag) in tow (still in prototype phase) is being tested by Airbus. The new luggage is a remarkable development that uses the handle to calculate the weight of your goods and RFID chips for tracking your stuff in airports ready with the corresponding tech. This way you’re bags will always find their way to you, as long as YOU end up where you need to. The chip has all the details of your trip and linked to you flight itinerary or frequent flyer id.

NHTSA and DOT’s solution to distracted driving; disable cellphones while driving

Roads are filled with morons and there’s absolutely no dearth of people who only find time to catch up with things when behind the wheel. But it stops being amusing when some staggering figures are thrown at us, only in the United States itself more than 3000 lives are lost to distracted driving each year. There are no clear ways of deciphering how many of those accidents and fatalities are caused due to fiddling with cellphones or navigation system but it sure is one of the major reason. There are rules to curb the menace but we all know how toothless they are. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Department of Transportation think they have a solution to it.
