• Cockroach Freezing Jet lets you freeze them if you cannot beat them

This is one ingenious development. Cockroaches are a handful of work to get rid of but when their numbers far exceed your patience, there’s not much to do than pray for their extinction. We’d rather have the dodo and the saber tooth no? But then arrives a messiah, in the form of a cool canned Cockroach Freezing Jet. It’s better than the stinky pesticide sprays that do you more harm than a grain of the cockroach population. The spray fires a blast of -75 degrees C (that’s almost -103 degrees F). The clean spray does not leave an odor or a stain, thus making it a fantastic weapon against the dreaded pest. The chilly blast freezes the roach so that you can scoop him up and fling him as far from your habitat as you please.

  • Virgin Galactic SS2 Space Tourism spacecraft makes first powered flight

We were all raving about the amazing prospect of being able to travel through space, thanks to the mighty and thoughtful Sir Richard Branson. The spaceship, known as SpaceShipTwo or SS2 made its maiden powered flight, finally. It was dropped from a carrier aircraft many feet above California’s Mojave Desert and ignited its rocket engine to enable a supersonic voyage for a few startling seconds. The SS2 has been space borne over twenty times but this is the first time its hybrid motor has been ignited. The mere 16-second burn propelled it beyond the sound barrier to a speed of Mach 1.2.

Japan based company launches “Unimo”; 1-seater sofa like EV

Most of the Wheelchairs that double up as electric vehicles (EV) are utilitarian in nature without much styling features. Nano-Optonics Energy, a Japan based company, has come up with a one-seater electric vehicle (EV) called “Unimo” that looks like a sofa and has most of its mechanical bits hidden behind its flat panels. The EV has rubber crawler tracks instead of wheels, which gives it extremely agility. It can make a 360° turn in a tight spot. It is equipped with a torsion bar suspension (independent suspension) that gives it the ability to climb a step as high as 15cm. It is easy to manoeuvre the EV on rutted roads, gravelled surface and sandy tracks.

Your phone can now track direction of gunfire

Your smartphone is your PA, receptionist, lying buddy, gaming rig, bank concierge porn-feed and sometimes, even your ruddy torch. So how about extending its use to now be something a little more physically capable? A team of computer engineers from Vanderbilt University’s Institute of Software Integrated Systems has put its best together and rolled out an inexpensive hardware module that can help Android phones into a simple shooter location system. The team detailed the working of the system at the 12th Association for Computing Machinery/Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Conference on Information Processing in Sensor Networks in Philadelphia, which was held this month..The Department of Defense has put in enough effort to develop systems that could detect and trace approaching fire. The detection takes place in phases, which progressively feed the systems that generally detect the direction of a shot, thanks to an array of sensitive microphones, a precise clock and an off-the-shelf microprocessor to detect these signatures that display the exact direction of the shot.

Bato-Keshi Racing Erasers Mario Kart 7 burns mean rubber

Super Mario is brilliant on his own limbs, bobbing around, dealing with mushrooms and tortoises And then it’s him speeding through his 8-bit empire on his brilliant kart! So to pay tribute to the latter, Japanese toy manufacturer Takara Tomy has rolled out the Bato-Keshi Racing Erasers Mario Kart 7. Well, ideally it would suit children to perk their ears up and take notice. But then, this generation of children know nothing about the 8-bit era. Stores across japan were loaded with these cool erasers which were available in three sets, each with Mario and either his brother Luigi, darling Peach, Kinopio (Toad). A little plastic slider comes with the package and all you have to do is insert the slider into the grooves on the bottom of the eraser, draw boundaries to set the course and zip past with all the rubber you have!
