1953 Volkswagen Beetle turned into a perfect sphere by sculptor Ichwan Noor

There are a few products of automotive innovation, design and engineering that simply do not deserve the scrap-yard after their years of fruitful service expire. Perhaps designer Ichwan Noor thinks so too and has come up with this one-of-a-kind installation that took our breath away. The installation is more than what meets the eye and is a real VW Beetle hailing from the year 1953, mashed up in a perfect sphere! The installation was displayed at the Art Basel Hong Kong art fair in China.

Based in Jakarta, sculptor Ichwan Noor teamed up with Mondecor Jakarta for the project. The designer used a 1953 Volkswagen Beetle and combined it with polyester and aluminum to create this exceptional piece of artwork. Also, this isn’t his only piece and as per reports, Noor will soon display a bunch of more vehicles wrapped in spheres and squares. These could very well show up at more international art shows in the future and we simply can’t wait to catch them all! Noor’s installation is indeed a ball of joy, and so we think!
