5th Avenue jeweler adds QR codes to the rocks

New York jeweler, Michael C. Fina, is taking window shopping to new levels with his scan-able jewelry displays. The fifth avenue retailer has partnered with bridal jewelry manufacturers A. Jaffe, Platinum Guild International USA (PGI-USA) and web developers Tappinn to be the first to embed their window displays with customized QR codes – matrix barcodes that are readable by QR scanners, smart phones and other handheld devices. On scanning the product’s QR code with a smart phone, window shoppers will be directed to the Michael C. Fina website, where they will receive more detailed product information. They will also be able to browse the gallery of platinum A. Jaffe rings, make an appointment with the store and even share products with friends via social networking sites. As I imagine fiancées squealing with excitement, I can hear fiancés groaning in pain!

All five of Michael C. Fina’s shop windows will display the customized QR codes until October 11.
