Trafalgar Square, London, center of culture, history and now home to giant robots, courtesy of Audi. Audi’s Trafalgar Square project Outrace is an interactive message center, in which eight giant robots use their LED-loaded arms to scrawl messages in the sky. If you want to send a message to someone you love, all you need to do is head to the website and submit a message of up to 70 characters long for the robots to replicate in the sky. If your message is chosen, you’ll even be emailed a video of the bots writing it, for free! It sounds kind of fun, but to be honest, I don’t see the point or the value. If I wanted to see something quirky in London, I’d rather head to the Tate. If I wanted technology, I’d pop into the science museum. If I went to Trafalgar Square, the last thing I’d want to see would be huge great robots writing messages in the sky.
If you want to tell Kevin or Tracey how much you love him or her, log onto www.outrace.org and go wild. No porn please. Remember, it’s the British.
