For Call of Duty Fans, the second installment of the game, Modern Warfare 2 was set to be a huge hit until you actually play it and realize that one of the levels involves an extremely controversial scenario at a Russian airport. This part of the game allows the controller to pretty much run rampant in the field and cause as much wanton destruction as they please considering at that point they would playing a terrorist of sorts. You’ll have to play the game to get the plot, no teasers here. This stage has the Russians up in arms, figuratively speaking, as they have decided to ban Modern Warfare 2 in the country and recall all the games distributed. The creators at Infinity Ward have decided that a patch that would remove that level would be created so the game can be re-distributed in Russia. The re-released version without the airport level should be out in less than a month’s time. Of course this is all pending government approval.
For the rest of the world it’s up to us to decide what exactly responsible gaming measures should be taken. But at the end of the day there’s no truth in any of it, it’s just a game and as some are saying, would there be an issue if it were some other country’s airport?
