Rubik’s Cube is more than just a 3-D mechanical puzzle toy. This puzzle concept has been well received by the geeky world and we have seen some amazing renditions like the Rubik’s cube Table, Rubik’s Cube subwoofer and Rubik’s Cube with Font Designer smarts. Latest developments tell us that Demaine has found a new way to quickly solve a puzzle of any size and his ways are quite different than that of Tomas Rokicki.
We know that going beyond the standard 3x3x3 size was only a domain of hard-core puzzle-solvers, but with this algorithm, you don’t have to be one of them to solve it. The algorithm here gives an approximate value for the number of moves required to solve a cube of any given size. It is also know to find the most efficient way to solve it even when the cube is in the most scramble state. Demaine now has is looking at how he can come up with the exact number of moves for any given size of cubes. Check here if you want to know how the algorithm actually works.
