There are all kinds of land speed records and here are a bunch of guys aiming to beat the land speed record, well it’s actually the first ever record to be set in a car that runs on compressed air. Designer Derek McLeish and bros. who’s been doing quite bit in his 61 years on the planet including working for Gillette, Atari and even co-founding a company called Carbon Sciences that’s working to convert carbon dioxide into usable fuel. He used an engine from a twin Honda superbike of course tweaked it quite a bit. He took his silver little speedster called the “Silver Rod” (hmm… no comment) to the Bonneville Speed Week way out in the salt flats of Bonneville California to the 2 mile track to set the record. So the record was set at 46.723 mph on an average, however McLeish believes that if he had more compressed air cylinders he’ll be able to hit 300mph.
