When Twitter first introduced the use of Hashtags, the micro-blogging platform thought of it as a perfect way to enable users to follow specific conversational topics or trends. Soon, the likes of Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest sniffed out this interesting visual annoyance and began offering the same too. The most recent social media platform to jump aboard the Hashtag bandwagon is Facebook. The biggest social site in the world with millions of users, Facebook will now enable you to use Hashtags in your posts and also quickly pick out trending topics from your newsfeed.
Well, all of this does sound promising, for now. Shortly in the future, Facebook users are expected to run crazy as usual and begin sprinkling these Hashtags in posts for no apparent reason. Soon enough, what people begin gargling out on this social media platform will turn into illegible nonsense with lots of “#”s thrown in. Click on a Hashtagged word and Facebook throws up just about every conversation with the word for you to read through. Let’s see how well this goes for Facebook!
