Garmin HUD navigation projects directions from your smartphone on the windshield

Do you wish to give your otherwise-dull family car a dash of futuristic technology that’ll have your neighbors and kin go “ooh!”? Check out this latest release by Garmin International Inc., a one-of-a-kind portable heads up display for your car that uses your windscreen as a screen to project all the information you’ll require access to while driving. Called the HUD (Heads-up Display), the system integrates with smartphone navigation applications and projects the directions you require on your car’s windscreen.

For this, a transparent film is installed on the windscreen or the system uses an attached reflector lens. The system works perfectly and gives drives all the information they need within a short glance. The HUD is designed to increase safety and also decreases distractions, without requiring a driver to consult a conventional dashboard-based GPS system time and again. The system requires users to download a Garmin StreetPilot1 or NAVIGON application and connects via Bluetooth. While the HUD unit costs $129.99 a pop, the Garmin StreetPilot and NAVIGON apps are priced at $29.99 for a regional map.
