Griffin Technologies launches point-of-sales solutions incorporating the iPad

It was only a matter of time until point-of-sale solutions finally came in the form of iPads. Griffin Technology, known for its innovative outlook, has come up with iPad-based POS systems that allow flexibly and less-expensive solutions. The company has unveiled the iPad Kiosk and the iPad Retail. While the former uses the iPad to work as a full-fledged information kiosk using the Apple device’s Multi-Touch interface to its advantage, the latter includes a built-in magnetic card reader with TDES encryption and DUKPT key management.

The iPad Retail is capable of use with the iPad 2 or the iPad 3. This system allows users to make payments via cash cards. Priced at $299, the iPad Retail works as an inexpensive POS solution as compared to the standard cash registers. These systems will be showcased at the CES 2013.
