gTar, the digital guitar for geeks uses an iPhone for a brain!

We’ve just stumbled across the latest way to exploit the goodness of the Apple iPhone that’s bound to leave true guitar enthusiasts frowning at what could be a new wave of geeky technology-assisted “musicians”. By Incident Technologies, the gTar requires you to plug an iPhone 4/4S into the slot provided which in turn hooks up with the digital guitar and the application to provide for a tad easier way to strum along. Displaying the notes and strings to be played on the “fretboard”, this one also comes with the SmartPlay feature that mutes out all the wrong notes you play, making you sound like a pro, a fact that we simply can’t stop cringing at.

Using a 5000 mAh li ion battery pack that powers the gTar up for a good 8 hours, this one also sports a USB port and a ¼-inch line out for everyone else to listen. Priced at $350 on Kickstarter and to retail at $450, we still suggest the conventional acoustic guitar as the better way to learn to rock!
