Hasselblad’s latest compact camera Stellar set to wow

They say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. What if your eyes were to have a magnificent accessory? Italian, Hasselblad has fashioned a unique compact camera aimed at photography enthusiasts who would settle for nothing but the best. Hasselblad, which gained iconic status when its cameras were sent to the moon, now offers amateur enthusiasts and consumers another piece of its history. Stellar is Sweden- based Hasselblad’s second foray into the consumer photographic marketplace after Lunar, acting as a follow- up in an ongoing program of product launches, targeting the lifestyle/luxury sector.

Reigning lens- king Zeiss finds its well- fitted niche in the newest Hasselblad offering. The makers have also packed in full HD 1080/60p video with manual controls in this model and the camera comes with a fantastic 3.6 x optical zoom. Dr. Larry Hansen, CEO and Chairman, Hasselblad explains, “Our larger than average point and shoot sensor enables the user to capture extra light and reproduce every scene in truly stunning detail. And with wide range ISO sensitivity it’s now possible to shoot in almost any light.”

Not just a technical tryst but also extravagant elegance is what the Stellar point- and- shoot offers, with its naturally tanned Italian leather wrist strap, a sophisticated hand-grip meticulously carved from a raw block of wood or its alternative, sleek carbon fiber hand grip made using the same technology as applied in the aerospace industry; all this and the wrappings of a select and distinguished-looking ‘jewelry’ box. Now discerning enthusiasts of beautiful design, ergonomics and advanced camera technology can attain wish fulfillment albeit at a price of a little over $2,000.

While a command of the f- stops is a source of pride to any photographer, self- appointed or otherwise, the Stellar experience promises to live up to the Hasselblad name and deliver nothing but stellar results. Exclusively designed at Hasselblad’s center in Italy, Stellar is set for take- off around the globe at top stores like Harrods in the UK, Lane Crawford’s in Hong Kong and China and Willoughby’s Camera in Fifth Avenue, New York, later this summer. It will be available in six exotic wooden handle options – including walnut, padouk and zebra.
