HP introduces Pet-Eye Fix technology for purrfect pet pictures

My pets (two Dobermans) are a part of my family. They have this unusual liking of being clicked and don’t miss a chance if any of us has a camera in our hands! And every time we shoot family pictures, these two spoil the picture with their glowing eyes. But HP is out with a solution for this dilemma of pet lovers like my family. After successfully introducing the red-eye removal HP digital cameras, HP has come up with their special Pet-Eye Fix technology that will be included in certain HP R-series cameras that will be released later this year.

Like red-eyes in people, the glow in a pet’s eye is a reflection of the camera strobe (flash) from the retina at the back of the pet’s eyes. Some animals, especially those with very good night vision like cats, have large pupils and very reflective retinas designed to capture as much light as possible resulting in extra glowing eyes when clicked. However with the wide variation in animal facial structure, hair and eye color, this technology won’t work all the time.
