I’m a big fan of the rescue robot generation and there have been so really good ones. Quince is the latest little roving robot in the fight against accidents, natural disasters etc. This eight-wheeled little wonder-bot has been designed and developed through a consolidated effort of the Tohoku University, Chiba Institute Of Technology and Japan’s International Rescue System Institute. He’s been designed to assist with “CBRN” (chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear) type emergency situations and weighs no more than 26.4kg. Hi dimensions are 655 x 481 x 225mm and he’s equipped with mics, speakers, a PSD sensor, a laser range finder, Wi-Fi, a door opener, and cameras that include an infrared thermography camera as well. He’s designed to move up and down stairs and can hit up to 1.6m/s. Check out the videos to see just how versatile the little guy is.
In the event of disaster you can call on Quince, Japan’s latest addition to the rescue robot division
