Traditionally Iridium has been famous for providing global coverage to places far away from civilization on brick like bulky phones. The company has now tried its best to go slim with the 9555; the phone has managed to reduce 27% of its weight and 30% of its volume. The new device has packed in a speakerphone feature, a mini-USB port, along with some improved changes with sms and email functionality. The phone has a brighter display and provides resistance against water and dust, to add to the ruggedness of the device.
The new Iridium 9555 has a talktime of around four hrs and a 30-hour standby time; there is no mention if the company has managed to cut its price too.
