You don’t need to check with stocks to realize that the only way the gas price is going is up. Neither do you need to be an expert to realize that traffic snarls is a reality of life. Well, if you are a victim of both the conditions, then you need to thank a 22-year-old Plymouth man called Ilya Kaganovich for creating the iShoes. One of the shoes is pushed by a chain drive and powered by an electric motor that lets the wearer reach an estimated 15 to 20 miles per hour. Speed is controlled by a plunger held in the hand. The second shoe is free wheeling and worn for balance. There are no brakes, per say, but Kaganovich says with his design, they don’t need any. The whole thing weighs only ten pounds. “The motor does the braking on this unit, so the motor slows down the wheel and actually puts the energy back into the batteries to extend your range.”
Ilya Kaganovich sold his protype pair, and has ordered parts from Europe, China, and Germany to build 50 more. He plans to sell them from his website for $499 plus shipping costs.
