Kagome installs tomato vending machine in Tokyo to encourage fruits over energy drinks

tomato-vending-machineWhen you come to think of it, the reason most sportspersons prefer energy drinks and the likes is the taste. It would take fresh fruits quite an effort to beat the delicious flavors that artificially sweetened energy drinks offer. But then Japanese company, Kagome are taking the fight to the colas. They have installed tomato vending machines at a runner’s sports facility, located in Chiyoda Ward of Tokyo. Consuming tomatoes can be extremely helpful for runners and help them overcome general fatigue. The tomatoes will be available in two sizes, a 280-gram bag for 400 yen (aprrox. $3.80) and a 180-gram bag for 300 yen (approx $2.80)

To ensure that sportsmen have fresh tomatoes to relish daily, the product stock will be replenished on a daily basis. The Tomato Vending Machine may find itself in the spotlight at the upcoming 2014 Tokyo Marathon, which is to be held on February 23rd.
