There are two new offerings from the storage maestros LaCie, the 2TB HDD Max and the d2 DVD±RW 22x external drives. The new MAX high capacity storage system, launching at CES in Las Vegas, will offer 2TB of storage capacity via two large-capacity disk drives that can be set in either a RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration with the flick of a switch on the back panel. The front USB 2.0 expansion port on the sleek, all-black polished-mirror enclosure can be used to link to another external drive for data backups.
In an attempt to make it consumer friendly, the drive will come with a Setup Assistant formatting the disk drives as well as Genie Backup Assistant for PC and Intego Backup Assistant for Mac. It will cost around $300 when it hits the shops.
The new LaCie d2 DVD±RW 22x with LightScribe and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and/or FireWire disc burners, let customers backup large multimedia files on strikingly original-looking DVDs or CDs. The drives feature LightScribe labeling tools available from LaCie on the 22x rewritable DVD drive which allow users to use a laser to etch distinctive designs on the surface of their burned CD or DVD. With LaCie’s new disc burner, users can store up to 8.5 GB of data, roughly the equivalent of more than two hours of theater-quality video on a large-capacity DVD.
The d2 DVD±RW 22x with LightScribe is available worldwide through the LaCie Online Store or LaCie Reseller at the suggested retail price starting at US$119.99 USD for the FireWire/USB version.
