At the recent IFA 2006, LG formally announced the launch of their latest clamshell phone U830. A very stylish piano black phone, it looks like a part of the Black Label range, but it isn’t. In form it resembles a smoother RAZR, with silver edging, and with an optional subdued checkerboard pattern in black and gray for the keys. The 2MP camera, music and video playback from many file types, and 200MB of in-built memory, while added connectivity comes courtesy of Bluetooth, makes it a must have! Other mobiles of note on show were the KG920, the recently-announced 5Mp camera phone, which is a big baby, and the KG328, a sleek-looking candybar measuring just 9.9mm thick that will probably not reach UK shores. The GSM KG328 includes music playback functionality and 128MB internal memory, but there was no evidence of a camera.
There is serious speculation as to when these phones will be launched. Perhaps at the end of the year they may come out with the U830, though the second model Chocolate may not be released until next year.
