The SmartScreen is a Media Device that’s making its presence known in the forest of Media Players. The one we are talking about is a 30GB monster and it is Linux based. It looks very much like an iPod and provides playback for MP3, WMA- DRM and WAV audio extensions MPEG-4 and WMV video formats. This brainchild of AOL and Haier promises some cool features like suggesting music to listeners during playback and free internet streaming from radio stations. It also provides connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It supports media downloaded from servers like Rhapsody and Yahoo! Via a wireless 802.11 connection. The basic concept of SmartScreen devices is that they come under open source market. Development is always welcome and having control over the operating system of a media player makes it a great possession for the genius minds.
This one’s not named yet, but promises to make a name for it the moment it comes around. However, the pricing is what I’m looking forward to.
