For all you computer-centric musicians looking for freedom of movement and no haste of cables, M-Audio has unveiled its new line MidAir USB MIDI controllers and interfaces which includes MidAir 25 and MidAir 37 controllers. Known for its feature-rich keyboards, M-audio has managed to incorporate wireless technology from Frontier Design Group. The new MidAir25 delivers 25 velocity-sensitive keys in a full wireless frame. It includes a MidAir 2.4GHz receiver it delivers an effective range of 30 feet with the same consistent, realtime response and low latency as wired controllers. Users also get eight MIDI-assignable knobs, mod and pitch bend wheels, assignable sustain button and a pedal input. To enhance your experience, MidAir25 also provide you with eight MIDI-assignable knobs, mod and pitch bend wheels, assignable sustain button and a pedal input.
On the other hand, MidAir37 is larger and the number of keys increases to 37 along with nine assignable faders. With these devices, the keyboard player will no longer be tied to a host computer or a rack of gear sitting in the backline.
The MidAir receiver also serves as a standard USB-MIDI interface, which will allow you to even work with other MIDI gear without the need for separate interfaces. It goes without saying that a class-compliant device and requires no drivers.
The benefits of these M-Audio controllers are not restricted only to the chunk soft synths and DAWs, it can be used without a host computer and connected directly to a standard MIDI instrument. Without the clutter of cables, MidAir 25 and MidAir 37 allow users to take control of any MIDI instrument using the preset and octave +/- buttons as well as assignable physical controllers. For greater flexibility, both controllers can be powered with either the included 9V DC power adapter or with standard batteries.
So they actually give the keyboards a new level of freedom to perform wirelessly on stage.
M-Audio plans to start the shipment of its MidAir wireless MIDI interface after the release of the controller versions of this technology.
The MidAir 25 will hit the stores in June 2006 with a price tag of USD $249.95, while MidAir 37 will shi[p in July with a price tag of USD $299.95.
