MTube features Linux, WiMAX, weighs five ounces

mtube.jpgThe slight MTube sounds corky but packs in a punch for it puny size. The device has been developed by Taiwan’s Science and Technology Advisory Group and it’s built on VIA’s Mobile-ITX motherboard, featuring a 2.8-inch, 640 x 480 touchscreen, 8GB of flash memory, a 1GHz VIA CPU, and is running some form of Linux. Sporting an ITX form factor, it apparently also includes a CDMA baseband chip, which allows wireless connectivity possibilities for devices of this type.

MTube is currently just a prototype, but will be commercially built by 2009.
