NEC BIGLOBE Android Tablet could give N900 and alike a run for their money

The Japanese love to take things to the next level. The simple stuff just doesn’t appeal them. They’ve already started using the Android platform in services other than in mobile phones. A 7 inch touchscreen device with an 800 × 480 pixel with accommodations for LAN, USB and 3G and WiMAX support and weighing in at about 380g made an appearance recently. The device made by NEC is presumably called BIGLOBE (the best translation I could get). These will be used as terminals for users to browse the internet, watch videos, access photos via a service called “Fotopoke”, view emails and even update your Twitter account. Not too much of information was disclosed but we should be seeing the devices sometime in mid 2010. The prices have yet to be announced. These Android powered ‘internet tablets’, if they make it to the rest of the world, have a lot of potential. Look out N900, Android’s comin’ to get ya!
