NEC has commercially unveiled the world’s first Contactless Hybrid Finger Scanner that can simultaneously acquire fingerprint and finger vein characteristics without any physical contact. Hailed as HS100-10’s, the device makes it difficult for impostors to circumvent the authorization system. Also its contact-less sensor is sturdy against the characteristics of fingers that are exceedingly dry or moist with exceptional accuracy which often comes in the way of accurate readings of contact-based devices. It also has a USB interface that allows one to connect with a PC to log onto its its operating system or unlock its screensaver in two different environments i.e. stand-alone and ActiveDirectory environment. It features support with various major access management software including IBM’s Tivoli Access Manager for Enterprise Single Sign-On and Novell’s Novell SecureLogin. NEC will be putting its device for public display at the Pulse 2011 event in Las Vegas from February 27th.
