Nike+ fitness app for the iPod Touch and Nano was seriously lagging behind its competitors. This was mainly because it required separate hardware – Nike-specific trainers and an imbedded chip to track the progress of your jog. The new Nike+ app, launched last weekend, has jumped into the game with a bang louder than a starter’s gun. The new Nike+ maps your path on Google Maps as well as tracking your statistics – pace, distance and calorie consumption – as you jog along. It syncs with the Nike’s Facebook, Twitter and NikePlus.com online communities, so people around the globe can have a giggle at how slow you are, I guess. Nike+ also offers voice feedback, which I guess would be somewhat like having a personal trainer at your side to bully you along.
The new Nike+ app is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch (does not include GPS) and iPad (a slightly cumbersome companion for a jog, but…) and costs just $1.99.
